About
Oregon Books and Games

|
Karen
Moore had a dream to own and run a bookstore. When the
family was planning a move back to Oregon, Karen prevailed
in gaining the support of her family to open a bookstore.

On
January 2, 1990, The Book Depot opened in half of the
historic Kesterson building on G Street, which now houses the
Grants Pass Museum of Art. After three years, the store
was moved across the street to Caveman Center Plaza (now the Towne
Center Plaza). The store continued to shift and expand at this
location until October 2000, when it made the big change to Grants
Pass Shopping Center and changed its name to Oregon Books
and Games.
The
name change came as a result of the web site for the store, oregonbooks.com,
which had become very popular, but confusing (because of the two
names).
From
the first day, the concept of providing the best books for the
best prices, coupled with superior customer service, has been
the driving force behind this success story.
From
its modest beginning in 1,200 square feet to its present location,
Oregon Books and Games has evolved into one of the premiere
bookstores in the Northwest. It started with Karen, assisted by
Robert, and is now run with their son Jeffry as the General Manager
and a staff of five professional booksellers serving the community
of Josephine County.
