Local Authors Kirsten and Christopher Shockey present their latest cookbook
Thursday July 18 | 5:30PM - 7:00PM
Local authors Kirsten and Christopher Shockey got their start in fermenting foods twenty years ago on their 40-acre hillside smallholding, which grew into their organic food company. When they realized their passion was for the process, they chose to focus on teaching fermentation arts to others. They teach worldwide and host workshops on their homestead in southern Oregon.
On the night of July 18, 2019, they will bring their passion for fermenation teaching to Oregon Books and Games.
Their latest cookbook MISO, TEMPEH, and NATTO focuses on the fermentation of grains and beans. July 18,2019 will be your chance to try some of these delicious East Asian inspired fermentations, meet the authors and get a signed copy of their cookbook so you can try the process at home!
Book Signing with Middle School Author Cherie Coon
Saturday July 20 | 11:00AM - 12:00PM
Cherrie Coon loves story telling and children and both come through in her debut novel YANI AND THE KNAPPER
Yani is a ten year old dreamer. One day the traveling flint knapper walks out of the forest to catch her dancing with a cloud of butterflies. By the day's end Yani finds herself traded to the Knapper for his blades. From that moment her life changes from her father's unwanted child to a roving adventurer. Oh, the amazing things she sees and the experiences as she and the Knapper make the rounds from the sea in the north to the mountains that are always white in the south. Along the way she comes to trust and love the old man.
A heart warming story proving that a family can be more than the one you were born into. YANI AND THE KNAPPER is sure to be beloved by any Middle School child who loves history, adventure, imagination and discovery.
Come into Oregon Books and Games on July 20th and get a copy of YANI AND THE KNAPPER signed by the author!
